Rob Tobin - Athletics

Rob won a silver medal in the 2010 European Championships and competed in the Beijing Olympics coming 4th in the 4x400. He is part of Team GB for the London 2012 Olympics.

SHIOW: What has been your biggest challenge?


RT: I got injured at the trials in 2011 which caused me to miss the World Championships and then subsequently get dropped from Lottery funding a year before the home Olympic Games.

SHIOW: What has been your favourite sporting moment?


RT: Walking out for the final of the Olympic Games in the Birds Nest Stadium and very close is winning the silver medal at the World Championships in 2009.

SHIOW: What are your top tips for aspiring athletes?


RT: Believe in yourself and work hard and anything can happen

SHIOW: Who has most influenced your success?


RT: My family, as they have supported me in whatever I choose to do from a young age right up until now.

SHIOW: The 7 Olympic and Paralympic values are respect, excellence, friendship, courage, inspiration, dedication and equality.  What do these words mean to you?


RT: It sums up everything that the Olympics means and represents and what everyone should strive for.
