Red Cross Centenary, until 27 September
An exhibition to mark the centenary of the Red Cross in Hampshire. The special display comes from the collections of the Balfour Museum in Winchester.

A Miscellany of Automata - Rachel Larkins, 4 July to 30 August
An exhibition by artist Rachel Larkins showing a series of hand carved and painted automata and drawings based on the folklore of Christchurch.

East End Eye - East London in the 1960s, 11 July to 29 August
An exhibition capturing the gritty reality of life in East London during the 'Swinging' Sixties. Evocative and fascinating black and white images depict widespread poverty, poor housing, industrial and racial unrest.

The War between Men and Women, Thursday 16 July to 17 July
The War between Men and Women is an entertainment around the theme of the never-ending battle of the sexes performed by members of Christchurch's U3A's Platform Performances Group.

Seized! 22 July
Heave ho me mateys! Set sail for the Red House Museum to hear about the age-old battle between smugglers and customs men. There be a chance to make secret maps, create your own smuggler identity and find local shipwrecks!

July adult book recommendations
This issue of Showcase is the first to feature a title in a language other than English. This month's choice is Dan Brown's Angyalok es Demonok, the Hungarian version of Angels and Demons. You can also read this title in Chinese, French, Polish, Russian. If you would like to improve your language skills or read in your first language look out for future featured recommendations. We have 30 languages to choose from just ask in your local library or Discovery Centre.
