Junior Librarian

What can the system do for teachers and pupils in school?

  • Provides an electronic library catalogue for all resources in the library and the rest of the school if required.

  • Provides an issuing system for pupils and teachers – enables both sets of users to know exactly what resources they have on loan at any time.

  • Enables children to use information skills for locating material useful for either projects or recreational reading.

  • Gives children experience of using IT in a realistic situation.

  • Allows children responsibility for issuing and returning their own resources.

  • Enables contents of classroom collections to be easily and effectively monitored.

  • Provides a reading record for every pupil or class group so that teachers can check on what their pupils have been reading during any given period of time.

  • Offers both class loans or individual loans to users.

  • Accommodates loan of class sets of books.

  • Enables teachers to keep a record of what books and other resources they have used for particular topics, to refer to in future years.

  • Provide a book review facility for children who have read a book to write something about it for other children to read.

  • Allows for keyword searches which can include links to other relevant resources and websites.
