Hampshire School Library Service offers schools various ways of buying recommended materials for their libraries.
You can browse the shelves and order from our SLS Bookshop in Winchester, use our online ordering facility, or let us select resources for you through our Assisted Purchase scheme.

A competitive discount of 20% is offered on most resources purchased through us.

The SLS Bookshop

The SLS Bookshop (formerly known as the Exhibition Collection) has moved to a new location.  We are now based in Moorside Road in Winnall, Winchester.  We continue to offer one of the best selections of children's books in the South of England and now also showcase a selection of library furniture from all of the major suppliers.

Booking an appointment

• We are open Monday to Friday from 9am - 5pm, including school holidays.  Late night opening until 6.45pm is available by appointment
• It is essential to book an appointment so that we can make your visit as useful and enjoyable as possible.

Assisted Purchasing

• A new service for schools
• A particularly useful service for those who have difficulty getting to Winchester
• Stock selected using our expertise to fit your needs
• A service to meet all your needs, e.g. focus on a particular topic, author or genre, or resources to support an author visit

How does it work?

You have, for example, £100 to spend on new Tudor resources for KS2.
We will:

• Select the best resources currently available
• E-mail you the list for approval
• Order your selected titles
• Send the resources, fully serviced to your requirements, direct to your school

Complete an assisted purchasing request form, giving us the details of the resources you would like us to select for you.

Online ordering

• An opportunity for subscribing schools to order resources direct online from our book suppliers, Peters Booksellers.  
• Use your Hampshire schools login to Petranet to identify yourself as a Hampshire subscribing school. To receive your login , please contact us. Do not contact Peters directly, as the password they offer you will not entitle you to our discount.
• Resources ordered using your Hampshire schools password will attract our usual rate of discount - now 20% on most items.   Resources can also be serviced so that they arrive ready to go straight on the library shelves.
• All SLS booklists are available on the Petranet website. You can therefore order direct from regularly updated recommended lists of both curriculum based and recreational fiction and non-fiction titles
• As well as ordering from our booklists, you can use your Hampshire schools login to order sets of group readers, replacements for lost or damaged stock, the new Anthony Horowitz or Jacqueline Wilson, or anything else you need.
• Ordering is very quick and easy.Step by step instructions are available or demonstrations can be arranged.
• No payment is made online. An invoice is sent to school with your order.

Please be aware that not all resources on Petranet will feature on Hambase - our database of bibliographic information to which many schools subscribe. Hambase only includes details of our recommended resources which, although extensive, will not include all the resources offered for sale by Peters.
