Meet the Author

Welcome to the School Library Service’s exciting new Meet the Author series. Many of you will be familiar with the Wessex Children’s Book Festival, and we are thrilled to be able to extend the opportunities the festival offers with our new series of events.

We’ve got the usual line up of fantastic authors you’ve come to expect of the Wessex Festival, but Meet the Author will be happening throughout the school year, every year.

Meet the Author aims to support literacy and to inspire children’s reading and writing, by giving them the opportunity to meet some of the very best and most popular authors writing for children today.

The programme was announced on Monday 19 September at a special event with author Mary Hooper. The full programme  gives more information about the authors and the events.

Events can be booked by emailing sls.events@hants.gov.uk, and specifying how many tickets are required. Tickets will be allocated on a first come, first served basis and priority will be given to SLS subscribing schools.
