Alex Danson says 'Thank You'

Hockey player Alex Danson today paid tribute to everyone who had supported her journey to achieving an Olympic bronze medal.

Alex was part of the Team GB hockey team that beat the New Zealand hockey team 3-1 to secure the bronze medal. Alex scored the opening goal in the match, watched by the Duchess of Cambridge.

Talking about the support she has received she said:

'As a Hampshire athlete who received support from the Hampshire Talented Athlete Scheme I feel proud that I can thank everyone involved for all their support. I would never be leaving a London Olympic Games with a bronze medal without such help. As a young person with dreams and ambitions of going to an Olympics my journey would have been so difficult without Hampshire's support. To every aspiring athlete, make the most of every opportunity you have now as the rewards in the future are something very special, that I promise you. Many thanks again.'
