The 'Weirwolf' hosts rare Q&A session to raise funds for his new charity
The ultimate Paralympian and role-model, David Weir CBE, and his equally inspirational coach, Jenny Archer, will be offering fans a rare opportunity to gain a unique insight into their record-breaking success at a charity fundraising evening on 15th February, 1.30pm-3.30pm, at Horndean School, Waterlooville.
Fans will be able to relive the London 2012 Gold-medal winning races with the man himself, and then pitch their questions to both David and Jenny. There will be opportunities to have a photograph taken with the Paralympian, plus a raffle, where you can win a number of items, including a signed copy of David's autobiography.
With light refreshments provided, the afternoon promises to be a memorable event in the run up to the London Marathon! Tickets are £15 per adult, £8 for children, with a saving of £6 for a £40 family ticket (2 adults, 2 children.)
"I used to resent being disabled, but now I'm proud".
It's a fact that disabled people are seriously disadvantaged when it comes to physical leisure opportunities. It is disappointingly common for disabled children to be sent to the library during PE lessons, as schools lack the resources and experience to accommodate them during these periods.
However, the rewards can be enormous: we are regularly told by parents what a difference the Academy is making to their children in terms of their confidence, self-esteem and enjoyment of a social network. One of our youngest members recently declared that he is no longer resentful of his disability; he is proud to be disabled! And with a role-model like the great David Weir, not to mention our athlete up-and-coming athletes, no wonder!
The more funds we raise, the more disabled children and young people we can offer the opportunity to be involved in sport; whether they just want to take part, or have dreams of a podium place. Tickets can be booked online at:
