Are you concerned about:
Rising levels of childhood obesity?
The safety of the roads around your school?
Traffic congestion at the school gate?
The movement of traffic within your school grounds?
If you would like to help influence the safety and health of your pupils and others, then your school could benefit from developing a school travel plan.
School Travel Plans
School Travel Plans (STPs) are written in conjunction with pupils, parents, teachers, governors, local residents and the local authority. They identify current issues and concerns with respect to the whole journey to and from school and seek to develop a range of initiatives to help resolve them. Travel plans also try to integrate this plan as part of the national curriculum and involve the pupils as much as possible, i.e., mapping routes in Geography.
The School Travel Planning team can visit your school and provide guidance, advice, and a free resource pack to help with the development of your travel plan.
Funding is available to implement measures identified in approved travel plans through both the Department for Education (DfE) Capital Grant, and Hampshire County Council's Safer Routes to School (SRTS) Programme.
