Hampshire Camping Course

For the first time the Heavyweight and Lightweight Camping Courses have been combined into one course.

Primary school camping – on school site

This course comes to you! Completion of this course will qualify participants to use their own and similar sites, as well as having access to the local pool of tents and stoves.

Course content

  • An introduction to the pool of camping equipment maintained and available for school site camping
  • Siteing, erecting and dismantling tents; tent care
  • Sleeping arrangements and staying warm
  • Simple risk assessment and group management
  • Further opportunities

Course objectives

  • Give staff the confidence to camp on their own site or that of a neighbouring school (a directory of schools that may be used is available from the Outdoor Education Department)
  • to provide information on regulations, guidance and support.

Contact us if you are planning a camp on your school site and we will be able to discuss your requirements.

The Primary School Camping Course costs £135 and is open to as many Teachers, Governors, Parents and Volunteers as you would like to participate. The course can be run at the end of the school day to allow as many staff as possible to attend. Each participant will receive a certificate.

Midas minibus driver training

An opportunity for training and assessment as part of the Hampshire County Council minibus driver training.

Courses dates on application

Cost £25 per person.
A minimum of 4 people is required for the course to run.

Low Ropes personal development instructors course

After successful completion of this course and a qualifying pass out session you will be able to lead your own group sessions on Tile Barn’s Low Ropes course. Further information and booking Outdoor Education Service, tel 01962 846541.

Level 2 Award in Food Safety in Catering

Do you have to cook for groups? Do you camp with groups or stay in residential centres? Worried groups are going to get food poisoning?

Cookout provides Food Hygiene Training Courses for expeditions. Bespoke courses for youth groups and fixed course dates for individuals.

Duke of Edinburgh County Open Gold Award

Staff at the Centre take part in the delivery of the County’s Open Gold Award.

Training starts in early October each year and we visit places such as Dartmoor, South and North Wales. Early in the training programme groups will decide where they would like to do their final assessment, and this can range from Scotland to France. Wherever they choose, we will ensure that fun is had by all and that the memories last a lifetime.
