The ‘Delivering a Sustainable Transport System’ (DaSTS) report follows on from the ‘Towards Delivery of a Sustainable Transport System’ document which set out a mission statement for Transport for South Hampshire (TfSH) to work within a strategy of Reduce, Manage and Invest.
The DaSTS report was finally submitted in May 2010. It was written to fulfil a requirement from the previous government, and explains how TfSH will achieve five key goals to:
support economic competitiveness and growth
reduce CO2 and take action on climate change
promote safety, security and health
promote equal opportunities in order to create a fairer society
improve quality of life and promote a healthy, natural environment
TfSH will support these goals in transport terms. For example, a reduction in CO2 can be achieved through the promotion of cycling, walking and public transport which aims to deter people from using private cars.
