Transport for South Hampshire and Isle of Wight

SDAs

Partnership for Urban South Hampshire (PUSH) is involved with the promotion of several Strategic Development Areas (SDAs). These are specific sites which provide both housing and employment floorspace, and will be designed with retail, leisure and education facilities to serve the people that live and work there.

Currently, an SDA is proposed for an area north of Fareham. Since the original plans, the scale of development has been reduced with sustainability as a key goal for the area.

Transport for South Hampshire (TfSH)’s contribution is to identify the most appropriate transport solutions for the SDAs. The creation of new homes and workplaces could add to existing congestion around the areas. TfSH will, therefore, identify methods to reduce the impact on current transport systems such as the BRT or pedestrian and cycle provision.
