Quality assured accommodation
Visit England are responsible for the National Quality Assurance Scheme which is delivered by GSL Limited, operating under the name of Quality in Tourism.
Training opportunities in the South East
Tourism South East runs regular courses, events and workshops to help support tourism businesses.

Tourism is a complex industry with a large number of stakeholders, from Visit Britain to local businesses. This document helps to explain how the South East is structured and the relationship between local authorities and tourism.
Visit Britain is Britain’s national tourism agency, responsible for marketing Britain worldwide and developing Britain’s visitor economy. It works in partnership with government, industry and other tourism bodies.
VisitEngland is the national tourist board for England, responsible for marketing England to domestic and established overseas markets and for improving England’s tourism product.
Department for Culture, Media and Sport
DCMS - National government tourism policy and support is provided through this department and the Tourism Minister. It grant aids Visit Britain and Visit England.
Tourism South East
Tourism South East is the organisation which supports and fosters the interests of tourism in the South East. It is a limited company and a membership body.
Tourism is a non-statutory function, however many local authorities choose to operate tourism services of some kind. These tend to focus on marketing, development and research activities, and information provision via Tourist Information Centres. Councils also support the tourism industry in many other ways, through planning policies, provision of visitor facilities, street cleaning, event production, for example. Some local authorities have set-up Destination Management Organisations (DMOs) to foster greater collaboration with their industry.
