Hampshire County Council is keen to ensure that the county has a thriving tourism industry. A range of public sector support exists to support tourism businesses in Hampshire. A number of useful documents and links are listed below.

The structure of tourism in the South East
Tourism is a complex industry with a large number of stakeholders, from Visit Britain to local businesses. This document helps to explain how the South East is structured and the relationship between local authorities and tourism.

Tourism Officer contact details
The Tourism Section at Hampshire County Council plays a strategic role in supporting tourism in Hampshire. Local tourism matters are dealt by tourism officers at district, borough and unitary authority level.

Quality assured accommodation
Visit Britain are responsible for the National Quality Assurance Scheme which is delivered by GSL Limited, operating under the name of Quality in Tourism.

The Highways Agency, in conjunction with the Department for Transport, DCMS and Visit Britain, have put together a booklet entitled “We’re just off the main road”.

Tourism South East runs regular courses, events and workshops to help support tourism businesses.
