Detergents

European and domestic legislation requires that certain ingredients in detergents and other household and industrial cleaning products meet strict standards for biodegradability. The law also requires information to be provided on the labels of products to advise consumers as to the concentration, in percentage ranges, of these ingredients, and also of the presence of certain allergens.

Our Work:

We have carried out a project examining the labelling of detergents and cleaners and have informed manufacturers and suppliers whose products were found to be incorrect and have advised them of how to rectify their labels. Because the results of the project were rather disappointing we plan to repeat it in the future to see if compliance has improved.
