Aldershot: Victoria Road: improvement proposals for pedestrians and cyclists
Update 3 January 2014
Footway improvement works on Victoria Road between Grosvenor Road and Fredrick Street will start on Monday 20 January and finish on or about 14 March 2014.
The works will involve:
finger post signing
installation of cycle stands
new traffic signals at the junction of Victoria Road and Station Road
We expect that Victoria Road will remain open to through traffic and pedestrians throughout the works, but there may be a short of period of time where a road closure is necessary for safety.
Access to property will be maintained at all times. There may be some disruption caused during the construction period, but every effort will be made to keep this to a minimum.
Hampshire County Council and Rushmoor Borough Council are proposing improved facilities for pedestrians and cyclists between Aldershot town centre and the Rail Station. This work will complement previous improvements carried out along Victoria Road in 2012. The proposed new work includes
upgrading and refurbishment of the traffic signal junction at Victoria Road and Station Road, to provide improved pedestrian crossing facilities
finger post signing to key destinations between the Rail Station and Town Centre
repaving and improvements of the footway along Victoria Road between Grosvenor Street and Cross Road/Frederick Street
provision of cycle stands at convenient locations along the route
