Petersfield residents parking scheme
The public consultation on the proporsed residents parking scheme closed on Friday 19 August. Details of the proposals are set out below.
We are currently considering the responses and this web page will be updated with information about next steps later in early 2012.
Proposal - South of Station Road
Barham Road, King George Avenue, Lyndum Close, Windsor Road and Winton Road
Changes to the existing residents parking scheme including:
- Amending the existing single yellow lining from no waiting, Monday to Saturday, 9am to 6pm to no waiting, 9am to 6pm on all days to take into account Sunday trading.
- Amending the existing white parking bays from permit holders/one hour waiting (no return within one hour), Monday to Saturday, 9am to 6pm to permit holders/one hour waiting (no return within one hour), 9am to 6pm on all days, once again, to take into account Sunday trading.
- Providing new or extended white parking bays in Barham Road, King George Avenue and Winton Road.
- Providing new or extended double yellow lining (no waiting at any time) adjacent to vehicular accesses in Barham Road, King George Avenue, Lyndum Close and Windsor Road.
- Adjusting the existing parking controls adjacent to the Barham Road/King George Avenue junction.
Proposal - North of Station Road
Balmoral Way, Belverdere Close, North Road, Osborne Road, Sandringham Road and Woolner Avenue
A new residents parking scheme including:
-
Providing new white parking bays for resident permit holders/one hour waiting (no return within one hour), 9am to 6pm in North Road, Osborne Road, Sandringham Road (southern part) and Woolner Avenue.
Note: Outside of 9am to 6pm, these bays would be available to all motorists for unlimited periods of time. - Providing new or extended double yellow lining (no waiting at any time) at junctions, accesses, bends and turning areas.
-
Allocating parking permits to residents of North Road, Osborne Road, Sandringham Road (southern part) and Woolner Avenue, who do not have off-street parking, on the basis of one residents permit and 30 visitors permits per year – it is anticipated that residents permits would cost £25 per year and visitors permits would cost £5 for ten permits.
Note: Although a parking permit would not guarantee a resident an on-street parking place adjacent to his or her property, the scheme as a whole would deter long stay weekday parking by non-residents thereby increasing the availability of such parking for residents.
Proposal - Grenehurst Way
The introduction of new parking controls including:
- New single yellow lining (no waiting, Monday to Friday, 9am to 6pm) in order to deter unsafe/inappropriate weekday parking, for example, adjacent to junctions, accesses and “pinch points”.
- Removing existing advisory white access protection markings.
Proposal - Love Lane/Readon Close
The introduction of additional parking controls including:
New or extended double yellow lining (no waiting at any time) to enable ambulances to exit this area to the north and to the south unimpeded by parked vehicles.

Next steps
Before implementing any of the new or revised parking controls, it will be necessary to successfully complete the statutory procedure required to make a Traffic Regulation Order. This procedure includes a number of stages of consultation including the current stage which is consultation with local residents.
