Scheme Description and Objectives:-

   Upgrading of the existing footway to provide a shared footway/cycleway on Wide Lane approaching the Spitfire Roundabout from the north east, and continuing into Mitchell Way on highway land.

Extension of the adjacent splitter island on Wide Lane and relocation and upgrading of its existing uncontrolled pedestrian crossing point to provide a shared pedestrian/cycle crossing.

Provision of a “jug-handle” cycle facility on Mitchell Way at the Spitfire Roundabout splitter island to enable cyclists travelling from Mitchell Way to join the existing cycle route.

Associated traffic signs and road markings.
