The Trading Standards Service Safety Team has set up a text messaging service to receive information regarding underage sales of age restricted products such as alcohol, cigarettes, solvents and fireworks. Although the service is open to all, it is particularly aimed at young people who are at ease and confident with using this means of communication. Not only do we hope to obtain useful intelligence but it recognises that many young people are responsible members of our community and that their interaction with the Council is welcomed and valuable. It will help us tackle the crime and disorder issues particularly related to binge drinking as part of our commitment to the County Council’s corporate priority of Hampshire safer and more secure for all.
