Costume in Education

A Class Act

The main focus of Hampshire Wardrobe has always been educational, to enable pupils to gain insights into real and imaginary worlds through transforming the physical appearance in drama and role-play.

Hampshire Wardrobe provides delightful and exciting costumes to bring history and literature to life. For school productions, curriculum displays, book week and topic visits we have a vast selection of items to hire at very reasonable costs.

Popular eras of costume hired by schools to link with history topics include Aztec, Egyptian, Greek and Roman, Viking, Tudor, Victorian and Second World War.

We have adult’s and children’s costumes for most of the above eras including a child Pharaoh, rich and poor Tudor, Victorian pupils and teachers and WW2 military uniforms and evacuees.

Talking Boxes

Over 40 Talking boxes, containing a mixture of costumes and artefacts, are now available for hire. The boxes have a clear speaking and listening focus as well as cross curricular links to History and Literacy.
