Box 15 Victorian Wash Day and Cleaning

This box contains a selection of costumes and artefacts to represent the process of Victorian Wash Day. Pupils can explore and understand the difference between clothes washing in the 19^th century and today. This box is useful as support for a more an in-depth study of Washing and Cleaning, but may also be used as example of everyday life.

Ideal for use with Key Stage 2, years 5 and 6

Key learning objectives

• History: To enable pupils to explore key themes linked to Victorian Britain through handling costume and real and replica artefacts and by taking part in group activities.
