Box 2 Ancient Egyptians 2: The Afterlife
This box contains a theatrical costume and a selection of objects which demonstrate how the Ancient Egyptians dealt with death and the afterlife. It can be used both as an introductory resource as well as supporting learning throughout the topic of Ancient Egypt.
Ideal for use with Key Stage 2, years 3 and 4
Key learning objectives
- History: To enable pupils to explore customs associated with death and the afterlife in Ancient Egypt, by handling replica objects and taking part in group activities.

- Speaking and Listening: Encourages Pupils to work efficiently as a member of a group by using speaking and listening skills.
- Literacy: To explore Ancient Egypt through studying ancient Egyptian mortuary rituals, Myths and Legends.
- Citizenship: To recognise the differences between life and death in Ancient Egypt and Britain through handling replica artefacts.

Box contents
- Theatrical costume consisting of a Gold Cape, Gold Dress and a decorated collar and belt.
- Replica Artefacts include a scribes writing set, statuettes, a Shabti, a scarab beetle, embalming kit, Canopic jars, decorative Jewellery and a plaster model of Tutankhamun’s death mask.
- Resources include Teacher’s notes, Books, an audio tape of stories from ancient Egypt, posters, booklets and activity ideas.
Hiring the Talking Boxes
Boxes must be collected on Monday between 12 noon and 4.30pm, and returned on Friday before 4.30pm
