Achievements to date

Over the period September 2003 to January 2005, a series of workshops and appraisals were held with a range of community and industry representatives, working in partnership with Hampshire County Council, Portsmouth and Southampton City Councils and Project Integra.  These led to the development of More from Less, which sets out the philosophy and aspirations for a different approach in managing material resources over the period to 2020.  In total, some 5000 hours of stakeholder input have been contributed to the development of this document.

More from Less provides the primary reference point to guide and integrate work in three key areas:

• Producing a joint statutory Minerals and Waste Development Framework, setiing out policies for how the need for minerals sites and resource and waste management facilities should be met
• Development of plans for managing municipal waste under the collective Hampshire councils' partnership Project Integra (PI)
• Implementation of societal change initiatives and demonstration projects in conjunction with other elements of resource use such as energy, water, biomass etc.
