A Time To Celebrate At Petersfield Register Office

Petersfield Register Office

Fridays are a great day for celebrations! For the first time, marriages, civil partnerships and other ceremonies can be held on this day at Petersfield Register Office.

The Register Office has extended its opening hours and is now offering its full range of ceremonies on Friday afternoons, including baby naming, commitment, renewal of vows and citizenship ceremonies.

Petersfield Register Office is an impressive early Georgian listed building, set in the heart of the historic market town in College Street. Recently refurbished, it offers a beautifully elegant ceremonies room which holds up to 46 guests, with a large attractive garden for photographs.

The new opening hours mean that this year the special date of 08.08.08 is now available for booking!

Research by the Office for National Statistics has shown that couples are increasingly opting for civil ceremonies. Over fifty per cent of all marriages in 2006 took place in approved premises and register offices, and this national picture is reflected in Hampshire where 4,000 civil marriages are carried out every year, half in register offices and half in approved premises across the county.

The extended opening hours took effect from 1 May 2008

Couples in Hampshire can exchange their vows in a variety of venues including castles, forts, stately homes, museums, hotels or even the Rose Bowl cricket ground in Hedge End, near Southampton.

Full details of all the ceremonies are available on the Hampshire Registration Service website.
