Are you ready for Smart Commute Week?
3 - 7 November
Following a successful initial campaign in 2007, the second Smart Commute Week encourages you to question the necessity of your peak-time commute to work and to try a smarter alternative.
Each day will focus on a different aspect of Smarter Working with “one in five” as the overall theme for this year. If one in five workers adopt a smarter working practice for one day a week this will reduce peak time traffic volumes by 20%: comparable to the drop in traffic volumes which takes place during the summer. You can take up the one in five challenge here and participate in one of the Smarter Working themed days.
The Hampshire County Council backed Smart Commute Week suggests that for large sections of the workforce at least one of the following alternatives could result in a less stressful, less costly and less polluting working week.
| Date | Activity |
|---|---|
| Monday 3 November | Car Share Day |
| Tuesday 4 November | Business Travel Reduction Day |
| Wednesday 5 November | Work from home day |
| Thursday 6 November | Smarter Working Day |
| Friday 7 November | Alternative Commute Day |
Plus, new for 2008 are daily Smart Commute Week 30 minute webcasts sponsored by Ozone Conferencing. Each will feature a specific aspect of Smarter Working. Simply register online.
