Strike impact 16 July

The impact of the UNISON, and UNITE the Union strike on Hampshire County Council’s services is minimal, and frontline essential services continue to be provided as usual. There are exemptions in place protecting services provided to the young, old and vulnerable in our care.

Hampshire County Council has approximately 5,000 Unison members and around 300 UNITE members which equates to around 20% of the total workforce. In total today we have around 414 staff (excluding Schools) striking. Just 8 of our 530 schools have had to close or partially close and 10 of our 54 libraries and two of our mobile libraries.

Affected schools:

  • Trosnant Infant, havant closed today and from midday tomorrow

  • Heathfield Special school Fareham closed today

  • Ranvilles Infant Fareham closed today

  • Osborne Special School Winchester closed both days

  • Riverside Commmunity Special School, Purbrook

  • Sharps Copse Primary, havant closed both days

  • Henry Tyndale Special School, farnborough closed both days

  • Forest Edge Special school Totton partial closure, 3 classes closed both days

  • Gosport Discovery Centre (including main Discovery Centre, Local Studies and Gallery) closed

  • Basingstoke Library

  • Fareham Reference Library (reduced service being maintained on ground floor)

  • Fordingbridge AM (normal closure PM)

  • Hayling Island

  • Hythe AM (normal closure PM)

  • Lockswood

  • Lymington AM (normal closure PM)

  • Milford-on-Sea

  • Totton AM (normal closure PM)

  • Mobile Libraries RLL3 - Fareham

  • Mobile Libraries RLL9 - Ringwood

Misc:-

  • Crookhorn Secondary School kitchen staff on strike and so meals being trasnported from another unit

  • Hexagon Centre (Physical disabilities Day Centre)
