About 124 million years ago much of southern England was covered by a vast ocean. During this time Hampshire's oldest rocks and fossils were formed. More recently, during the Ice Age, glaciers helped to shape the hills and large animals such as woolly mammoths roamed Hampshire.
Discover Hampshire's geological past by exploring our exciting new, Heritage Lottery funded, geology story mat. Find the fossils and rocks lying hidden with the features, folds and pockets of the fabric.
Take part in an interactive story and discover some of the myths and legends about fossils, before taking home your own souvenir of Hampshire's watery past.Sessions run for one hour at: 10 11am, 11.30 12.30, 1.30 2.30pm,
