Design Philosophy and Client Brief
The brief for was to accommodate 90 pupils in three classrooms, with an age range of 4-7 years, with a resource provision of language impairment, and a 24 place Early Years Unit. The Local Borough Council were keen to engage with the community and contributed funding to create a Community Room that could be used directly by the infant school but could also be used by local community groups.
The Design and Construction.
The design solution was to arrange the new accommodation in three linear forms perpendicular to the block that survived the arson attack, that was stripped back to its frame and remodelled, thereby creating a courtyard that can be used for a meeting space, teaching space and external performance space.
