Comments
As Highways Authority, the County Council is concerned with runoff from roads and the impact on water resources, water quality and flooding. Works with developers to avoid adverse impacts from drainage; through its highways and planning functions is in a position to take the lead in reducing these effects. The Council has taken the lead in the co-ordination of flood defence planning with parish and district councils following the widespread flooding which occurred in 2000/2001.
Work with other agencies/bodies and tenants.
The resulting generation of capital receipts allows the funding of other projects.
Through Countryside Service, County Council responsible for conservation element in many of these sites.
Land for recreation given to district council in form of bequest may be passed to parish council to manage
