Our Aims and Performance
This part of the website is designed to show you what we are aiming to achieve (and why). It also outlines the information used to show how well we are doing alongside what you and those that inspect us think of our performance so far.
Our Aims
Hampshire County Council can be said to have a dual role. It has to provide effective local government by developing a good understanding of the needs and aspirations of the people of Hampshire and make sure that these needs are met. To do this it must manage its resources and priorities effectively in order deliver the services it is responsible for.
Often the goals we want to meet can only be achieved by working together with other organisations and communities and therefore the Council has developed a large number of partnership arrangements at local and County levels.
Assessing Our Performance
Having set its aims and priorities the County Council (sometimes together with its partners) then needs to account both to the people of Hampshire and to Central Government that it is doing these things effectively.
The Audit Commission also inspects services and systems of the County Council and makes judgements about how we are doing. The Commission subjects the County Council to rigorous review by way of the Comprehensive Performance Assessment (CPA) and other inspection regimes.
What We Aim to Achieve:
- Corporate Strategy and Performance Plan
- Local Area Agreements (LAAs)
- Hampshire Strategic Partnership and Local Public Service Agreement
