Early years education: For some two, and all three and four year olds
Some two*, and all three and four year olds are entitled to free part-time early years education (EYE).
The part-time, free early years education places are available in school nursery classes, state or private nursery schools, day nurseries, playgroups and pre-schools and with accredited childminders who are part of a quality assured network.
Children must attend a childcare service in Hampshire that is registered with Services for Young Children (SfYC), and registered with the Office for Standards in Education (Ofsted).
Some early years education providers cannot offer the full entitlement so it is important for parents to check with their chosen service what they offer.
The Government has produced a statutory guidance for Local Authorities to deliver the free early years education for three and four year olds.
Since September 2012 some early years education providers across Hampshire offer the free entitlement "stretched" across a whole year and not just during school term times.
