Safeguarding Children in Education - Audit
Under S.175 Education Act 2002 Governing Bodies are required to monitor and report annually to the Local Authority on their safeguarding provision.
The audit tool 156kb will help the Head teacher / Child Protection Liaison Officer to provide a report to the Governing Body on safeguarding practice. This will enable the Governing Body to monitor compliance with the requirements of S.175 Education Act 2002 & associated guidance, ‘Safeguarding Children & Safer Recruitment in Education (2007)
The Annual Safeguarding Report (online form is now closed for 2012) must be completed by the head teacher on behalf of the Governing Body and sent to the Safeguarding Unit at HCC. It is the mechanism through which Governing Bodies can provide information to the Local Authority about how their safeguarding duties have been discharged. The Safeguarding Unit will then identify trends & broad areas for support.
Audit returns will be requested annually via school communications (or other correspondence for Academies) with a submission period between May and October.
