Visually impaired children/young people
Services are provided by specialist workers within our sensory teams. A Paediatric ROVI (PROVI) (Rehabilitation Officer for Visually Impaired) works alongside the child, family and Education services to provide a comprehensive package of support and instruction to enable the child/young person to maximise its potential. This involves one-to-one work with the child/young person on independence skills and mobility.
Services are provided by specialist teachers (QTVI) and habilitation workers (PROVI) within the Specialist Teacher Advisory Service (STAS)

Deaf children/young people
Services are provided by Specialist staff within the Sensory teams, Sensory Officers (Deaf/HOH) who work with the child/young person and family to increase awareness of deafness and to develop communication skills. Information can be given on benefits and other local and national support services. Following assessment, equipment may be issued to help the child/ young person to fully access the home environment – the television, telephone, door bell and smoke alarm for example.
