Commission of Inquiry
The Commission of Inquiry was set up in 2007 to consider the main areas of climate change impact and identify and prioritise action to build more local resilience to these impacts.
2007 – Commission of Inquiry – Responding to the changing climate
The Climate Change Commission of Inquiry explored how Hampshire can adapt to become more resilient to the social, economic and environmental impacts of climate change.
The Commission considered evidence from a wide range of sources, learning from good practice around the world and focussed on what the County Council and its partners could do to help Hampshire address climate change.

2008-2009 Commission of Inquiry – Maintaining progress
Hampshire's Climate Change Commission of Inquiry reconvened on November 4th 2008. During the 2008 and 2009 hearings Commissioners considered the progress of the County Council and its partners in taking forward recommendations it made in 2007, to make Hampshire more resilient to the impacts of climate change.
A highlight was the signing of the Hampshire Accord which recognised the lead that Hampshire has been taking in responding to climate change.
2010 Commission of Inquiry – Preparing for further challenges/Ensuring future resilience
Having gathered knowledge, reported on and driven forward changes throughout the County Council. 2010 saw The Commission beginning to explore some of the more challenging topics emerging from research into the effects of climate change.
This change in focus ties in well with the ongoing County wide climate change vision and strategy work, that will need to tackle some of these issues.
