Older people

Many older people are discovering the benefits of using computers and the Internet.

Older people and the Internet

Older people may not have used the Internet much at work or home, but they may have seen their family or friends get real value and fun out of being online.  Some really useful things for older people include:

  • catching up with news and information

  • exploring hobbies

  • keeping in touch with families and friends

  • learning new skills and subjects

  • even helping their grandchildren with homework research

Googling is good for the ageing brain

There is interesting research to suggest that using the Internet and Google searching is good for you, see research on the benefit of computer use by older people*.
