Supporting the local economy
In 2012/13, we:
Were named ‘Transport County of the Year’ at the National Transport Awards. We also won a sustainability award for phase one of the Eclipse Bus Rapid Transport scheme from Gosport to Fareham.
Repaired or resurfaced 360 separate road and pavement sites through Operation Resilience, our long-term programme to invest in Hampshire’s roads, ensuring that they remain in good condition for longer.
Were proud to see eight athletes who had received support from the Hampshire Talented Athlete Scheme, winning medals at the London Olympics in 2012. Since the scheme began in 2008, over 700 of Hampshire's most promising sportsmen and women have received funding.
Remained the top performing county in the South East for residents' overall satisfaction with highways and transport, according to the annual National Highways and Transport 2012 Public Satisfaction Survey.
Developed plans to ensure that more than 57,000 business premises and households in Hampshire will benefit from superfast broadband connections.
