David SimonsI wished to make a complaint about an incident this morning involving a delivery driver and his assistant. I was walking my dog on the lead at 8.05am this morning. I had crossed the slip road from the main car park to the Butser Walk. I noticed that barriers were being delivered from a lorry. The assistant to the driver was unlocking the gate to the picnic area when I noticed he had a large alsatian dog with him - not on a lead. I waited until the lorry was driven towards the picnic area and then proceeded with my dog along the old A3 tarmac road. The alsatian then appeared, unsupervised, and attacked my dog, which was still on a lead.
I nearly fell and twisted my knee in the process of trying to protect my dog who has a long term leg injury and is now limping again.
The park has stringent rules for dog walkers about keeping dogs under control. Surely those making deliveries to the park should also be required to keep their dogs under control.

We have had a large number of contractors dropping off equipment for the South Downs Wood Fair which is taking place this weekend. I will find out who was responsible and get back to you asap. Not acceptable, I quite agree.

Mrs C PowellI cannot find any pictures, on your website or elsewhere to give me an idea of what the different BBQ areas look like, which would save time & effort in trying to organise a group party.
QECP replies
Thank you for the suggestion - we shall look at providing some photos for the website.
19 July - We have now added images for all our barbeque sites

Daniela Luke Loki DexterI've just been for a long walk with my partner and 2 beautiful dogs. We did the long walk and we enjoyed it very much, as usual. Unfortunately we agree there is a problem with bins to dispose the dog's waste. According to the QECP there are 6 bins in total... but not spread along the paths. I had to walk 7Km before I could get rid off the bags. And yes, we also saw a lot of dog waste on the paths and also bagged. Clearly, the dog owners are willing to clean up but if there isn't the facilities to dispose it, what is worst? Not picking it, or dump plastic bags along the paths? They avoid the fine but in my opinion end up causing more damage for the environment. Is it that expensive to put a couple more bins along the far end of the park, where the major routes cross and there's an easy access? And thank you for the free bag but I would prefer a bin.
Still, it is a great place and we will definetly be visiting it again.

christine theakerbeautiful place, shame about the bags of dog every where on the walks because they ask you to pick it up,but don't provide any bins to put it in

There are dual use bins located at all the key facility areas across the Park. These will take general litter and bagged dog waste.
The Park is covered by the Fouling of Dogs Act (1996). The Park rangers are now trained and authorised to issue £50 fixed penalty fines for failure to 'clean up', and due to understandable pressure from responsible dog walkers and other visitors they are now targeting the problem areas. Simply bagging and leaving is still an offence.
If visitors notice this antisocial behaviour they are encouraged to report the incident straight away to the visitor centre.

christinewe brought our dog along to the park and there is signs everywhere asking to pick up dog waste, but we found only one bin there isn't any up in all the walks,no wonder there was bags of dogdumped everywhere, the money you must make, you should put more bins in the park

We do have large dual use bins positioned at the main facilitiy areas across the site, 6 locations in total. These are for general litter and dog waste together. Interestingly there is not a litter problem in the Park, only a minor issue with some of our dog walkers bagging but not binning. The locations of these bins are clearly marked on our new maps, and map boards. Please drop in to reception on your next visit for more information, and to collect your free dog-dirt bags.

Stephen AllenHi We passed through QE Country Park Yesterday while cycling the South Downs Way.
We thought is was very poor that the signage for the South Downs Way was almost non-existant in QECP. We were able to follow clear signage on almost all the route but in QECP the South Downs signs disappeared to be replaced by a multitude of the parks own signs indicating numerous trails and activities.
Finding our way through the park was difficult and we had to ask the way. The staff did not seem well informed either. Perhaps your plan is to entrap any passing cyclists or walkers who are trying to follow the South Downs Way. Let them into the park but once here don't show them how to get out. It certainly felt that way. Poor.
QECP replies
We are sorry that you experienced problems with the signing for the South Downs Way. This is the responsibility of the South Downs Way Officer who is based at the National Park head office at Midhurst. I will pass on your comments for his attention. If you could please be more specific with regard to the staff information that you received then I can follow it up.

Mrs GurrWe came as a family group to the park yesterday and took advantage of the BBQ hire facility. We had a lovely time, the two hour time slot for BBQ was just right and it was nice to have our 'own'space on a busy bank holiday monday. We went for a walk afterwards and the children enjoyed the juniper trail. We will definately come again. The only complaint that we have is that another visitor, who had a disabled passenger with him, allowed him to remove his lower garments and go to the toilet in full view of our group which included young children. Although this is not exactly your fault, could you please make sure that the toilet facilities are more clearly marked when arriving in the park.
QECP replies
We apologise for the unfortunate actions of one of our visitors. The site has three 'unisex, open-access toilets', two of which are open from 8am to 8pm, and the third is open 24/7. On such a busy day as the Bank Holiday access was limited to the Blue-badge parking, and indeed the general car parks and this will possibly have contributed to the impromtu toilet stop. We hope that your next visit is not disturbed in any way. Should you experience problems in the future then please call the main park number and the duty ranger will come and assist.
