Development for Clerks [GT104]
Who will benefit? All new clerks to governance boards and those wishing to update their skills.
What will you learn? This course offers an important development opportunity for all clerks, particularly those new to the role. It's content is also intended to support clerks who are undertaking the Clerks' Accreditation Programme and there are some assessment activities that can be used as evidence for those seeking accreditation. The course covers: the three main roles of governance bodies; the role of the clerk; governance body membership; conduct of meetings; and what good minutes look like; an overview of the rules and regulations relating to governance bodies, delegation of powers and conduct of committees; guidance on the clerking of hearings and appeal panels. There will be an opportunity to practice taking minutes and discuss what good minutes look like. Clerks likely to be involved in governor discipline committee meetings should also attend Exclusion Practice and Procedures (GS???) and undertake the e-learning module Clerking Governor Discipline Committees .
Attendance options? Two days (lunch is provided).
