Chairing Matters [GT105]

Who will benefit? Chairs, vice chairs and committee chairs from all schools.

What will you learn? These three sessions will enable chairs, vice chairs and committee chairs to complete, within a year, the competencies in the Development Guide for Chairs of School Governors . There are three sessions in the programme and you can join in at any session, sessions do not need to be completed in order. Practical advice and support will be available and there will be opportunities to network with others, share good practice and keep up to date with current issues. * (session 3) Summer term 2013 will focus on an overview of the work of the governing body and help you lead and manage meetings and work effectively with your clerk. * (session 1) Autumn term 2013 the event will be about the relationship with the headteacher and knowing your team; considering issues and expectations and ensuring you get off to a good start. * (session 2) Spring term 2014 will focus on leading and managing the governing body; exploring leadership styles and a team health check.
