Hampshire Welcomes the World with Big Events

Hampshire County Council’s Music Service and Hampshire County Arts Service have made a huge contribution to the London 2012 Cultural Olympiad programme this year by producing five stunning music events in the build-up to the 2012 games.

Hampshire Music Service (HMS) took inspiration from London 2012 and created ‘Hampshire Welcomes the World’ (HWtW), a year-long programme of music which explored and celebrated music and cultures from around the world. The programme culminated with five musical Big Events at Winchester Cathedral, Danebury Hill Fort, Farnborough Airship Hangar, the New Forest and Staunton Country Park.

Hampshire Music Service would like to thank its many partners and sponsors for these events, including the Countryside Service, Forest Arts Centre, the Forestry Commission, the IQ Farnborough, Making Space, Salisbury International Arts Festival, the Spring Arts and Heritage Centre, the West End Centre, Hampshire County Council, New Forest District Council, Rushmoor Borough Council and Test Valley Borough Council and all the schools and local community groups who have made it all possible.
