Hampshire Now - your County Council magazine

From the Leader

Ken Thornber, Leader of Hampshire County Council

Welcome to the first of three editions of Hampshire Now for 2013 in which we aim to keep our residents informed about the County Council, our services and how we are working on your behalf.

We explain how we are balancing the budget to make best use of Council Tax contributions and to reduce the impact of cuts. You can also find out more about improving health and wellbeing in Hampshire, as well as picking up tips on cost-effective ways to improve your home and how small changes to your routine journeys can save you money and keep you healthy.

Our ‘Hampshire community focus’ feature highlights the Village Agent scheme where local volunteers are working to bridge the gap between their community and the statutory organisations offering services to older people. You will also find our regular features inside, such as the Hampshire walk, which is a literary-themed walk in East Hampshire, and find out more about energy saving in the home in our ‘Ask the expert’ feature.
