Presentation to apprentice Lisa Alexander from Neil Jones

Business Administration Apprentice

Hampshire Transport Management has successfully given opportunities to apprentice technicians in our vehicle maintenance workshops for many years. For the first time in August 2013, HTM expanded the apprentice scheme to include Business Administration. Lisa Alexander was successful in gaining a place on the programme and, having fully completed her apprenticeship, she gained an NVQ in Business Administration and a permanent post within the HTM team as an Office Administrator. In Lisa’s own words “I have just completed a one-year Business Administration Apprenticeship at HTM, which I began aged 16 straight after leaving school in 2013. Being an apprentice has many benefits, not just getting paid while learning, but actually doing real work and gaining experience which I wouldn’t have been able to get in college”. Following on from this successful experiment, HTM will be taking on another apprentice this year in Business Administration, providing another young person with valuable experience and lifelong learning skills. HTM is also keen to continue the apprenticeship scheme for vehicle technicians as part of its wider drive to give young people a chance and grow our own staff.
