Landscape Planning

The Strategic Environmental Delivery Group is involved in a number of land use planning documents and processes. These include the South East Regional Plan, the Minerals and Waste Local Development Framework and the Local Transport Plan at a County level and, at the local level, the District Local Plans, Local Development Frameworks and development control applications. The level and type of involvement varies, but the common thread is the sharing of landscape knowledge and expertise to inform plans, policy and decisions.

Underpinning the knowledge and expertise is a raft of information, including Landscape Character Assessment, Historic Landscape Characterisation, the Register of Historic Parks and Gardens and the Hampshire Integrated Character Assessment. These studies provide the basis for expert advice to internal and external partners on land use planning matters ranging from green infrastructure to criteria based landscape policies to coastal management plans.
