Road Salting - Facts and Figures

• 45 First Priority salting routes are directly managed by Hampshire County Council on the county road network
• The average length of each salt route is 35 miles
• Five tonnes of salt are carried by each lorry on a salting run
• It takes between 2.5 to 3.5 hours to salt the entire priority road network
• The County's stock of salt is sufficient to provide 15 days of  resilience under extreme conditions, ie snow.
