School visits to Rockbourne Roman Villa

Please contact the Red House, 01202 482860, to express an interest in a visit. Someone from the team will return your call as soon as possible to discuss your requirements and to confirm your booking.

Rockbourne Roman Villa is a fantastic resource for schools studying the Romans in Britain.  The villa is the largest known Roman villa in the area and its history spans the period from the Iron Age to the 5th century AD.

The Community Engagement and Learning Team offer a lively and hands on programme to schools, which can be tailored to meet the needs of your pupils. Museum-led visits are aimed at KS2, but can be adapted to suit KS1 or KS3. We are always happy to discuss your requirements.

Museum led visits are available on Monday, Tuesdays and Wednesdays from April to the end of September. From 1 October the museum is closed to the general public, and schools can book a museum led visit from Monday to Friday up until October half term.

To find out more about what we offer please click on the Notes for Teachers and Helpers on the right hand side.

The safety of you and your pupils are of upmost importance to us, and as Rockbourne Roman Villa is an outdoor, archaeological site it is important that you carry out a preliminary visit whilst the site is open to the general public, and we offer a Hazard Information Sheet, to support your own risk assessment.

School self led sessions

We welcome groups who wish to visit on a self led basis. Pre-bookings are essential and self led groups can book a visit on a Thursday or Friday, whilst the site is open to the general public.
