Hampshire dominates in the Table Tennis regional qualification event

Players from clubs in Hampshire had a great day during the Table Tennis South region qualification event for the English National U11-U14 Championship Finals. This was held on Saturday 14th April, at the Cippenham Table Tennis Club in Slough.

In the boys Under-11 competition, Jonathan McMullan and Vincent Cheung, both from Portsmouth, made to the final, with Jonathan taking the top spot. Jonathan repeated his performance in the boys Under-12 event, beating Artur Caltabiano from Southampton in the final. Artur also contested in the boys Under-13 category, loosing in the final to Josh Gallen (Berkshire). The Under-14 boys competition saw Jimmy Yeung (Portsmouth) taking the second spot after a great battle in the final against Daniel McTiernan (Berkshire).

The girls Under-11 event also had the presence of Katie Holt (Brockenhurst) who finished as runner-up after a round robin competition with other four players.

These players will now join Amy Blagbrough (Basingstoke), Matthew Daish (New Milton) and Letitia McMullan (Portsmouth), who are pre qualified through their national rankings, in the English National Championship Finals, to be played in Walsall on 9th and 10th June 2012.
