Permit Scheme for vans and trailers at Household Waste Recycling Centres (HWRCs)
If you use a van, pick-up or a trailer between 1.8m and 3.0m in length to dispose of your household waste at Hampshire's HWRCs, you will need to apply for a free permit.
Permits are valid at all 24 HWRCs in Hampshire, as well as those in Southampton and Portsmouth.
Permits allow up to 12 visits in a 12 month period, but are valid for up to three years.
Householders who have hired a vehicle for two days or less do not require a permit, but should present their hire purchase documents to site staff on arrival.
Southampton City Council and and Portsmouth City Council operate height barriers at their HWRCs. Please contact them directly for details of the height restrictions and when they are lifted.
Certain vehicles including larger trailers and horseboxes are not permitted access to HWRCs and are not eligible to receive a permit at any time.
