At Wessex Film and Sound Archive you can see and hear history, from late Victorian times to the present day, through moving images and sound recordings. The Archive contains over 36,000 film and sound recordings relating to central southern England, including film and tapes of local TV and radio, to study and enjoy.
Cinefilm relating to the region, to add to our collections of professional, amateur, documentary, research, advertising and newsreel films of local interest, from 1897 onwards.
Sound recordings reflecting life in the area, especially oral history, local radio, gramophone discs and local music tapes, and digital audio files.
Video recordings showing everyday life and events, whether on obsolete formats or made today, including corporate promotions and creative films.

We also collect equipment and manuals for film, sound and video, to help us in our work. There is an 85 seat cinema for group viewing and listening.
