City of Portsmouth 1977

This film is a rough cut edit commissioned by Portsmouth City Council in 1977 as a documentary of the city in that year, including the visit of the Queen to review the Fleet during the Silver Jubilee of her reign and the local celebrations.

Narrated by Peter Macann, it was never actually shown or fully completed, owing to disagreements within the Council regarding the film content. It should be regarded as a snapshot view of the city, rather than a comprehensive account, and reflects the situation as some people saw it at the time.
