Assistant Quantity Surveyor - Job Summary & Person Specification

Job Purpose:
To provide a full supporting Quantity Surveying service to the department in order that Projects are delivered in accordance with the County Council’s requirements. Responsible for directly managing allocated projects and supporting project and senior staff with procurement and cost management duties in relation to major projects and programmes of work.
Main Responsibilities
Financial Management
Implement effective cost control of allocated projects and elements of major projects/programmes of work under minimum supervision. Prepare accurate cost information and determine contractor entitlements.
Project Delivery
Planning, client and design team liaison, contractor negotiation and programme management to achieve the successful delivery of allocated complex projects within the agreed constraints of quality time and cost.
Technical Support
Prepare detailed measurements of building elements in order to produce quantified tender documents .Analyse, compile and present project data in order to produce estimates, cost plans and financial reports.
Procurement
Determine contract strategies so that the most suitable methods of procurement are selected to ensure projects and significant sub-projects of major projects/programmes of work are undertaken in an appropriate manner and that risks are clearly identified and managed. Implement Framework contracts and collaborative working. Working as part of the commercial team to support IESE

Successful completion of full time RICS accredited degree course or equivalent
